Noble Gas Systems Inc., based in Novi, has secured $3.5 million in Series A investment. The company develops and manufactures conformable high-pressure hydrogen gas storage tanks.
AP Ventures, a pioneer in innovative hydrogen technology, led the financing. Noble Gas will use the funds to commercialize its 350 bar (5,000 psi) hydrogen storage systems and to speed up the development of its 700 bar (10,000 psi) technology.
Noble Gas Systems CEO Chris Kondogiani says, “This is an outstanding milestone in our mission to bring our high-pressure, lightweight, and conformable hydrogen storage and delivery system to market.” “We are pleased to have the support of the AP Ventures team and to be a part of such an amazing portfolio of hydrogen technology startups.”
The Noble Gas high-pressure, lightweight storage and distribution system can handle hydrogen, natural gas, air, oxygen, and nitrogen, among other compressed gases. A polymer lining, woven reinforcement, and protective outer shell form the tank.
The system, which incorporates a leak-before-burst failure mode to prevent the possibility of a catastrophic, immediate release of high-pressure gas, is now being tested and demonstrated at a 350-bar operating pressure.
The gas storage system may be made in a range of forms and sizes to fit into a variety of different product designs. It has uses in the defense, aviation, marine, and industrial gas industries, in addition to transportation.
AP Ventures managing partner Andrew Hinkly adds, “Noble Gas’ technology will tackle some of the main difficulties around onboard storage for mobility applications.” “It will make hydrogen technology more widely used in industries like commercial cars and aviation.” We are thrilled to be able to assist Noble Gas at this critical stage of their development.”
