Under new MD, East Lothian hydrogen inventor to triple headcount

The expansion of the Scottish hydrogen company H2Tec into Europe, Asia, and the United States will result in the creation of a large number of jobs.

After selecting veteran oil and gas engineer Keigh Taylor as its managing director, the company, a subsidiary of Logan Energy situated in Wallyford, East Lothian, declared its ambition to expand.

H2Tec manufactures and distributes modular hydrogen energy systems, including refueling stations for HGVs, buses, ships, and trains. As the use of hydrogen as a low-carbon fuel begins to take off, the company’s products are being employed in transport refueling projects across the UK and Europe.

In the next two to three years, the company expects to triple in size, with expansion anticipated in Europe, Asia, and the United States.

Taylor has served as the design manager at Logan Energy for the past four years and is a “world-class engineer” in the oil and gas industry, according to the company.

His hiring will assist the company in meeting the growing demand for hydrogen-powered automobiles, vans, HGVs, and trains, as well as from renewable energy firms that view hydrogen as a storage solution.

Taylor stated, “My new responsibility as CEO of H2Tec is to expand the company and contribute to the rapid expansion of the hydrogen economy.” This will be accomplished through increasing our product line, expanding our range of standardized items, and providing quality to our clients.

“Our goal is to become the leading manufacturer of hydrogen equipment and a major employment in Scotland.

Having witnessed the tremendous growth of the hydrogen business over the past few years, I am thrilled to assume this new position.

He continued, “The semi-mobile, containerized hydrogen generation and refueling facilities we manufacture guarantee robustness and safety for our clients.” They connect readily to electrical and water sources to produce hydrogen, which may then be compressed, stored, and distributed as needed.”

Bill Ireland, CEO of Logan Energy, stated, “Keigh’s appointment sends a clear signal that our group is poised for significant expansion. His expertise in delivering customer-centric solutions is essential to our expansion as we meet the rising demand from businesses and government agencies seeking to build hydrogen infrastructure in order to meet their climate pledges.”

Logan Energy has more than two decades of experience in hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. It has designed, constructed, and implemented hydrogen production and refueling stations for the UK and European markets to date, and is actively building further stations for buses, vans, passenger vehicles, and heavy-duty vehicles.

It has also installed, commissioned, and maintained fuel cells that provide heat, electricity, and cooling in iconic British structures.

The previous month, Logan Energy appointed an ex-high-ranking NATO officer to the position of head of transformation.

Gary Deakin’s former job in the British Army as chief of staff of a NATO headquarters in Italy afforded him 36 years of expertise in leadership, planning, organizational transformation, and people. He was in charge of planning and executing operations throughout southern Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
