Together with the government of the Republic of Djibouti, Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) is doing research to create green hydrogen production.
The Framework Agreement, which Djibouti and FFI inked, is a significant step toward the nation’s first-ever generation of green hydrogen and establishes Djibouti as a future pioneer in the production of renewable energy.
Djibouti does not want to miss this historic moment when green hydrogen becomes the fuel for the energy transformation, according to Yonis Ali Guedi, the country’s minister of energy and natural resources.
The development of new jobs might have a big socioeconomic impact as a result of this initiative.
“This relationship with the Government of the Republic of Djibouti is a major step towards cutting emissions and advancing green energy projects,” said Julie Shuttleworth, chief executive officer of FFI.
Djibouti is a desirable location for the production of green hydrogen due to its access to ports, the geothermal, wind, and solar resources.
FFI is dedicated to generating social, environmental, and economic advantages, and we welcome the opportunity to collaborate with the government of the Republic of Djibouti on this new project, according to Ms. Shuttleworth.
The agreement grants FFI access to and the right to investigate the viability of renewable energy resources in Djibouti, including industrial zones, geothermal, solar, and wind energy locations.
The parties may then bargain the conditions of an Investment Agreement to develop and build green hydrogen production facilities on that site based on the findings of FFI’s investigations.
