Sixty organizations from across the globe are vying for a role in the building of the new $593 million hydrogen power plant in South Australia.
A procedure for soliciting industry bids on the technical, systems, and commercial development of the hydrogen facility has concluded.
Global operators with experience in establishing hydrogen infrastructure, enterprises with ties to local industry and local workforces, and organizations that collaborate with universities on research, training, and development submitted proposals.
Labor said that the government’s hydrogen power project will boost South Australia’s hydrogen economy and unlock a $20 billion pipeline of renewable energy projects.
Premier Peter Malinauskas stated, “It is evident that our daring vision for hydrogen has caught the interest of the globe.”
“There is little doubt that the green hydrogen business in South Australia is on the rise due to the high level of interest.
“We have positioned our state as a global leader in renewable energy, and the green hydrogen industry is the next step as we go toward carbon neutrality.”
The recently founded Office of Hydrogen Power in South Australia will utilize the proposals to inform future procurement processes and final site selection for the project, which is set for the upper Spencer Gulf in the state.
