Thyssenkrupp, the German industrial engineering and multinational conglomerate, has completed an intensive Technical Concept Study for Cayman Islands-based energy infrastructure provider Brooge Energy.

The study included an accompanying financial analysis for a proposed green hydrogen/ammonia plant to be built in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The facility will use Thyssenkrupp’s technology for both water electrolysis and ammonia synthesis, with the goal of producing green ammonia from green hydrogen using electricity powered by solar energy with water and air as raw materials.

The study included a comprehensive techno-economic analysis of the overall cost-effectiveness of the power-to-ammonia value chain.

Lina Salah Saheeb, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Brooge Energy, said, “The study’s results will help us determine the optimal setup for our green ammonia plant and guide our future investment decisions.” The study allowed planners to fully integrate the plant design and optimise technical specifications using ThyssenKrupp’s proprietary modelling tool.
