Colombia recently took center stage at the H2 Meet 2023 the only Latin American nation in attendance, showcasing its commitment to the energy transition and its potential as a clean energy hub.

The event not only marked Colombia’s presence but also witnessed the signing of a “Memorandum of Understanding” aimed at enhancing bilateral collaboration between South Korea and Colombia. Facilitated through K2Korea and ProColombia, this agreement is poised to propel the development of a robust clean hydrogen ecosystem while strengthening international ties within the hydrogen industry.

The collaborative efforts of the two nations will manifest through a multifaceted approach, including information exchange, seminars, promotional events involving experts and investors, and support for mutual development in the hydrogen sector in both Colombia and South Korea. This partnership underlines the shared vision of fostering growth in the hydrogen fuel cell industry and expanding the global hydrogen energy supply.

Carmen Caballero, President of ProColombia, highlighted the significance of Colombia’s participation, stating, “Colombia’s presence at this global hydrogen event highlights its commitment to embracing the future of clean energy.” She emphasized the pivotal role of the country in attracting sustainable foreign direct investment as the world increasingly seeks cleaner and more efficient energy solutions.

The event saw an impressive lineup of exhibitors, including Hyundai Motor Group, POSCO Group, Hanwha Group, Korea Zinc, Kolon Group, Hyosung Group, SeAH Group, and Doosan Group from South Korea. International participants included RWE Renewables (Germany), Air Products (USA), Bronkhorst (Netherlands), KraftPowercon (Sweden), and Forvia (France). Notably, Colombian companies Ecopetrol and Empresas Públicas de Medellín showcased their contributions to the hydrogen industry.

The Colombian delegation, led by ProColombia, the Hydrogen Chamber of ANDI, and Naturgas, utilized the event as an opportunity to engage with leading hydrogen groups in South Korea. Through seminars and specialized meetings, the goal was to attract investments to Colombia and accelerate its journey toward a sustainable energy future.
