EnerVenue and VedantaESS Form Partnership in Brazil

EnerVenue, a producer of metal-hydrogen batteries, has announced a Master Supply Agreement with VedantaESS.

EnerVenue’s Master Supply Agreement with VedantaESS marks a pivotal step for the metal-hydrogen battery producer as it enters the South American market. Per the terms of the agreement, VedantaESS will acquire and deploy 525 MWh of EnerVenue’s ESVs over the next three years. This partnership underscores the growing global interest in clean energy solutions that can enhance energy storage, distribution, and sustainability.

The deployment of EnerVenue’s ESVs in Brazil aims to cater to the nation’s evolving energy landscape, including the needs of distributed generation, isolated microgrids, and commercial, industrial, and utility applications. As Brazil continues its transition toward cleaner energy sources, the ESVs are expected to play a significant role in meeting the country’s energy requirements.

São Paulo-based VedantaESS is a prominent player in Brazil’s energy landscape, specializing in energy storage project design and management. The company offers comprehensive services, including energy storage management software, battery assembly, installation, technical support, and more. VedantaESS’s expertise lies in addressing the diverse and dynamic demands of Brazil’s energy market.

Richard Phillips, President of VedantaESS, emphasized the mission to tackle Brazil’s renewable energy challenges by strategically adopting innovative yet proven technologies. EnerVenue’s metal-hydrogen batteries offer advantages such as longevity, reliability, safety, cost-efficiency, and crucially, flexibility. These ESVs are poised to become invaluable assets across various applications, aligning with VedantaESS’s mission to provide sustainable and efficient solutions.

EnerVenue’s ESVs stand out due to their impressive features. These metal-hydrogen batteries offer exceptional lifetime, efficiency, and scalability through a configurable product architecture. They are designed for an expected lifetime of 30 years or 30,000 cycles, with a remarkable 86% capacity retention after 30,000 cycles. Moreover, ESVs are capable of cycling up to three times per day without requiring any rest.

One notable advantage of metal-hydrogen ESVs is their enhanced fire safety. They eliminate the risk of thermal runaway or propagation, making them safer for deployment without the need for costly fire suppression solutions. Additionally, ESVs are highly recyclable, aligning with sustainability and environmental responsibility goals. This sustainability aspect sets them apart from traditional lithium-ion storage systems.

The partnership between EnerVenue and VedantaESS represents a significant step in Brazil’s pursuit of cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions. As the country seeks to transition away from fossil fuels and embrace greener alternatives, the deployment of efficient and eco-friendly energy storage systems will play a vital role.
