BPH Energy Limited shareholders have voted unanimously to approve an investment in Clean Hydrogen Technologies Corporation (Clean Hydrogen).

This strategic move, in collaboration with Advent Energy Ltd, signifies a significant shift towards responsible energy management and a commitment to combating carbon emissions. Clean Hydrogen, based in the United States with a research and development Center of Excellence (CoE) in India, has emerged as a key player in advancing hydrogen technology with a focus on achieving remarkable efficiency and sustainability.

Clean Hydrogen’s mission is rooted in addressing the increasing global demand for energy solutions with a responsible approach and a focus on reducing carbon emissions. The International Energy Agency’s 2019 report emphasized the pivotal role of hydrogen, produced without CO2 emissions, in driving global economies towards sustainable growth. Clean Hydrogen’s innovative approach revolves around producing hydrogen with no CO2 emissions, a concept they term as Turquoise Hydrogen.

Clean Hydrogen has successfully developed and tested a thermos-catalytic pyrolysis process, a method of heating methane gas without burning it, using a catalyst in a modified fluidized bed reactor. The process achieves exceptional cracking efficiency, consistently exceeding 90% across proof-of-concept tests conducted in 2022 and 2023. The technology’s efficiency is attributed to its ability to break down hydrocarbons into solid carbon and hydrogen per hour, showcasing its prowess in sustainable hydrogen production.

Clean Hydrogen’s solution stands out for its flexibility in application, adapting seamlessly to existing infrastructure at heavy transport fuelling hubs, steel plants, and natural gas processing facilities. The technology’s potential to replace coking coal at steel plants and enhance hydrogen production for electricity generation positions it as a versatile and impactful player in the quest for decarbonization. The process produces two valuable products – hydrogen and CNTs – offering a dual-income stream that contributes to cost-effectiveness.

Clean Hydrogen’s journey involves meticulous testing and scaling to achieve commercial production by 2024. The completion of Stage 1 involved scaling the catalyst production and reactor size, laying the foundation for subsequent stages. Stage 2, the current commercial phase, aims to demonstrate the viability of Turquoise Hydrogen and solid carbon production on a smaller scale. The final stage, scheduled for 2024, involves scaling up to a commercial production system with multiple reactors working in tandem.

As Clean Hydrogen progresses through its testing and scaling phases, the company envisions a future where its technology plays a pivotal role in reshaping the hydrogen production landscape. The efficient, low-emission pyrolysis process, combined with the production of high-quality CNTs, positions Clean Hydrogen as a key contributor to the global shift towards sustainable and green hydrogen.

In conclusion, Clean Hydrogen’s breakthrough in Turquoise Hydrogen production marks a significant step towards achieving carbon-neutral energy solutions. The combination of technological innovation, efficiency, and adaptability to existing infrastructure sets Clean Hydrogen on a path to redefine the hydrogen industry and contribute substantially to a greener and more sustainable energy future.
