Double Zero Holdings and SJ Environmental have joined forces to convert stranded natural gas into blue hydrogen, marking a significant move in the transition to cleaner energy.
Stranded natural gas, which is primarily methane, often goes unused due to the high cost of transportation. By leveraging advanced technology, the partnership turns this issue into an asset by converting these gas reserves into blue hydrogen. This process not only addresses methane and CO₂ emissions but also produces hydrogen, a clean fuel with the potential to transform various industries.
Double Zero Holdings and SJ Environmental employ a technology compact enough to fit into a standard shipping container. This method ensures that 100% of the CO₂ emissions are captured at the well site and stored safely, preventing any atmospheric release.
The production of blue hydrogen is vital for the ongoing energy transition, offering a low-carbon alternative for sectors like transportation, manufacturing, and power generation. By converting wasted natural gas into hydrogen, this partnership contributes to global net-zero carbon objectives.
SJ Environmental Director John Chappell emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable solutions and innovation. He pointed out that this collaboration sets a new standard in energy production by delivering hydrogen and food-grade CO₂, thus preventing natural gas from being flared.
