Norwegian Hydrogen is collaborating with GreenIron, a Swedish start-up, to facilitate fossil-free iron production.
This partnership involves supplying renewable hydrogen from Norway to GreenIron’s plant in Sandviken, Sweden.
GreenIron’s production will scale up in 2025, requiring more hydrogen. Currently, the Hellesylt plant in Norway produces up to 1.3 tonnes of hydrogen daily, already serving its first customer, Veidekke, a construction company in Norway.
Ulrika Molander, COO of GreenIron, highlighted the importance of this partnership in securing a reliable hydrogen supply. The Sandviken plant is expected to start iron production by the end of 2024, transforming production with green hydrogen delivered from 800 km away.
