Hinet Sangju, a hydrogen charging station in Sangju, Gyeongsangbuk-do, has begun operations. The Hinet Sangju off-dash hydrogen charging station, built by Hydrogen Energy Network, has also given the green light to reviving the hydrogen economy in Gyeongbuk Province. The Hynet Sangju off-campus hydrogen charging station is the first result of a December 2020 agreement between Hynet and Gyeongsangbuk-do, Sangju, Gumi, Gyeongju, and Gyeongsan to build a hydrogen charging station. Sangju Odap Hydrogen Charging Station, operated by Hinet, is located near Sangju IC and is expected to significantly improve the driving convenience of hydrogen car drivers in Gyeongsangbuk-do. Furthermore, drivers of…

Nikola’s hydrogen-powered trucks have made their way “to their new homes.” This stage implies that the vehicles will be tested not only by Nikola’s engineers, but also by customers who will put these FCEVs through their paces in real-world scenarios. Given that these clients will do so in order to eventually purchase these trucks, they tend to be very critical of the new Tre FCEV. Nikola promised to reveal more information about the trucks at a later date, most likely when their development is finished and they are ready to be sold. This is expected to occur by 2023. Initially,…

The European Commission’s “European Alliance for Pure Hydrogen” has added Glavbolgarstroy Construction Company as a member. One of the key elements in the European Union’s new industrial strategy is the Alliance for Hydrogen Technologies, which aims to deploy hydrogen technologies on a large scale by 2030. As part of the EU’s efforts to achieve industrial leadership, the initiative, which will be launched in July 2020, will actively work to accelerate industry’s decarbonization in order to contribute to the Union’s ambitious climate and energy targets With the goal of zeroing out greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, the European Alliance brings together…

CEC Haren GmbH & Co.”Green KG’s H2-Hub Haren” funding project in Haren, Lower Saxony, is being funded in part by H-TEC Systems, a green hydrogen technology company. Haren, Emsland’s “Green H2 Hub Haren” funding project uses two ME450/1400 PEM electrolysers from H-TEC SYSTEMS. The planning firm CEC Haren GmbH & Co. KG and the electrolyser manufacturer H-TEC SYSTEMS both made the announcement. In this case, Westnetz, the electricity and gas distribution network operator, placed the order with H-TEC SYSTEMS. With the help of this R&D project, a decentralized hydrogen production facility can be built. The site will produce green hydrogen…

Yara International has purchased a 24 MW PEM electrolyser from ITM Power and Linde Engineering, which will be the world’s largest. The electrolyser will be installed at a Yara facility in Herya, outside of Porsgrunn. The site produces 3 million tons of fertiliser per year, making it Norway’s largest industrial site. SMR currently provides the hydrogen required for ammonia production (steam methane reforming). Yara plans to begin replacing this grey hydrogen with clean green hydrogen produced through electrolysis and renewable energy. As Yara embarks on its decarbonisation journey and sets an example for the wider ammonia industry, the 24MW system…

At Yara’s ammonia production facility in Herya Industripark in Porsgrunn, Norway, the company signed a contract with Linde Engineering for the construction and delivery of a green hydrogen demonstration plant. The project, which is funded by an Enova grant worth NOK 283 million (announced in December 2021), will show that ammonia produced with renewable energy can reduce carbon dioxide emissions in fertilizer production. Using proton exchange membrane (PEM) technology, the project will be realized through water electrolysis, which will produce green hydrogen to partially replace the hydrocarbon-based hydrogen production in Yara’s plant. This will be Linde Engineering’s second 24 MW…

According to the Transgaz’s Extraordinary General Shareholders Meeting (EGMS), it was approved that a legal consulting agreement be signed to examine and negotiate terms of membership in both the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund (3SIIF) and the European Hydrogen Backbone on legal, financial, and commercial grounds. Members of Transgaz’s board of directors have approved a legal consulting agreement with the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund in order to analyze and negotiate legal, financial, and commercial conditions for a total of up to $626 million for the development of natural gas and hydrogen transmission infrastructure projects. The legal consulting agreement is…

The German Fraunhofer Institute looked into the possibility of mixing hydrogen into the gas grid. This turns out to be a bad idea: it’s expensive, produces little, and competes with other, better uses of hydrogen. It also raises the cost of gasoline. Nonetheless, in the Netherlands, we provide subsidies for it. The Fraunhofer research institute looked into various admixture scenarios. Only 7% of CO2 emissions from gas use are saved in the most extreme scenario, where 20% hydrogen is added to the gas. This is due to the fact that hydrogen molecules have less energy than natural gas molecules. As…

ArcelorMittal announced that its XCarbTM innovation fund has made a US$5 million investment in H2Pro, bringing the fund’s total investment commitments to US$180 million since its launch in March 2021. Temasek, Horizons Ventures, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, and Yara are among the other investors in H2Pro’s US$75 million Series B funding round. H2Pro is working on a game-changing method of producing hydrogen from water. E-TAC (Electrochemical – Thermally Activated Chemical), a technology similar to electrolysis, uses electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. However, unlike traditional electrolysis, hydrogen and oxygen are produced separately in two steps: an electrochemical step and…

The International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) has released a new study that concludes that with policy support, hydrogen-powered aircraft could reduce emissions from passenger aviation and “look surprisingly viable from a design standpoint.” According to the ICCT, starting in 2035, liquid hydrogen combustion aircraft could provide carbon-free air travel for up to a third of global passenger demand. According to the study, aircraft powered by “green hydrogen” derived from renewable energy could fly up to 3400 kilometers at a lower cost than sustainable aviation fuel. To reduce carbon emissions, easyJet advocates for the use of hydrogen in short-haul aviation.…
