Topsoe’s membership in the Hydrogen Council will hasten the development of Power-to-X solutions for difficult-to-abate industries such as steel, cement, mining, and heavy transportation. The Beijing Public Transportation Corporation has announced that during the 2022 Winter Olympics, it will use 212 hydrogen buses. This is part of a larger effort to keep the Olympics carbon neutral. In order to keep potential risks to a minimum, 11,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) will be deployed. They’ll be outfitted with real-time monitoring systems that will allow for data collection. Elogen, the French technological leader in PEM (proton exchange membrane) electrolysis, has taken a key step in the massification of its production. BAC has announced a collaboration with Viritech, a company that specializes in hydrogen powertrains, with the goal of bringing a fuel cell electric vehicle powertrain to the Mono. Viritech’s successful bid for a Niche Vehicle Network Feasibility Study Grant from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles resulted in the agreement. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration and Torghatten Nord have agreed to build Norway’s first full-scale hydrogen ferry, which will save 13,000 diesel-fueled cars per year in CO2 emissions.
