According to Australian National University researchers, new technologies that allow hydrogen to be produced directly from solar energy without the use of expensive electrolyzers could pave the way to low-cost renewable hydrogen supplies. Schlumberger New Energy, the CEA, and their partners announced the signing of pilot project agreements between Genvia and critical-industry leaders on the path to net zero in the cement and steel industries. A framework agreement has been signed between Neles and thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers for the delivery of valve solutions for green hydrogen applications. Neles will deliver Neles segment valves to be used in electrolysis plant modules supplied by thyssenkrupp Uhde Chlorine Engineers as part of the agreement. The HYBRIT-initiative is granted support from the European Union, as one of seven large-scale innovative projects under the Innovation Fund. The European Union is in total investing over €1.1 billion into the seven projects. Bosch has added components for hydrogen tank systems, such as tank valves and pressure regulators, to its product portfolio for mobile hydrogen applications. For this, Bosch formed an engineering partnership with OMB Saleri, an Italian specialist, in which the products are jointly developed. According to Bosch, around one out of every eight newly registered commercial vehicles in the world will be powered by a fuel cell by 2030. An agreement has been reached between OPITO, a global safety and skills body for the energy industry, and the Acorn Project and Scottish Cluster to develop a blueprint for industrial skilling and reskilling training for the low carbon economy, according to a statement from OPITO.
