University of Texas at Austin researchers are pushing a novel mix of in-situ combustion and carbon dioxide storage to convert undiscovered oil into clean hydrogen energy. The technology will be discussed by researcher Ian Duncan, who leads the Earth Systems and Environment group at the UT Bureau of Economic Geology, at the US Department of Energy’s Hydrogen Shot inaugural conference on August 31 and September 1. Russia intends to produce 730,000 electric vehicles (EVs) between 2022 and 2030, with an initial production target of 25,000 by the end of 2024. In Quintero Bay, Chile, plans have been presented for a brand-new electrolysis plant that will produce roughly 500 tonnes of green hydrogen per year. Enagás, ACCIONA Energa, and GNL Quintero have collaborated on a $30 million project that will provide hydrogen as an alternative energy source as Chile attempts to reduce emissions. ACME Group has signed a land deal to establish a green ammonia project at the Special Economic Zone at the Port of Duqm in Oman. Brussels will get its first hydrogen-powered public transportation starting in September, when the first STIB hydrogen bus hits the streets of the Belgian capital. The bus, which was unveiled on Monday, has already through many tests in recent weeks and is ready to go into service as part of the regional transport operator’s larger push for renewables. The Xiong’an New Area building project in Hebei Province, China, has received a fleet of 100 hydrogen-powered trucks. FTXT Energy Technology, a subsidiary of Great Wall Motor (GWM), and partners Dayun, Dongfeng, and Foton handed over the fleet to assist establish a green hydrogen transportation network countrywide.
