EnterSolar has completed a 2 MW rooftop solar installation at Simon & Schuster’s Riverside Distribution facility in Delran, New Jersey. The solar system will generate 2.2 million kilowatts of clean energy annually, equivalent to matching one-third of the facility’s onsite energy use. UXOcontrol, the Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) risk mitigation solutions expert, has completed UXO identification campaign for the Kincardine offshore wind farm. Kincardine offshore wind farm, with a nominal capacity of 50 MW, is located approximately 15 kilometres off the south-east coast of Aberdeen. Gore Street has entered into an agreement to acquire a 100% interest in Ferrymuir Energy Storage, a 50MW energy storage project in Scotland. The project, which has been acquired from a group of investors comprising Abbey Properties, Yoogen and Intelligent Land Investments, consists of a 50MW energy storage system in Fife, Scotland, for which all land rights, grid connections and planning consents have already been secured. GF Corporation, Kyocera Corporation, Kyudenko Corporation, and Tokyo Century Corporation joint venture, Kanoya Osaki Solar Hills, has started operating ‘Kanoya Osaki Solar Hills Solar Power Plant’ in Kyushu, with peak generating capacity of approximately 100 megawatts (MW). Project planning began in January 2014, as the local community expressed interest in re-purposing land designated for a golf course more than 30 years ago that was subsequently abandoned. The site uses 356,928 Kyocera solar modules and is expected to generate approximately 117,000MWh — enough electricity to power roughly 39,300 typical households, offsetting about 62,420 tons of CO2 emissions per year. The Morvern Community Development Company has worked with Triodos Bank UK and the Scottish Investment Bank to secure a new finance arrangement to support the development of a high-head hydropower scheme on the Barr River near Loch Teacuis, Morvern in Lochaber, Scotland. Once installed, the scheme is expected to have a 1.6MW capacity and to generate approximately 4,269,000 kWh each year – enough to power over 1000 homes. Iberdrola is boosting its renewables investments in Castilla y León, as a part of its plans to contribute towards the green recovery and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth in the area, and the transformation of the Velilla region, Spain. Iberdrola is to develop more than 1,800 MW in the community over the coming years in renewable projects – wind and photovoltaic – for which it will allocate investments in excess of €1.3 billion. JinkoSolar Holding will supply 60.9 MW of bifacial modules for the first industrial hybrid plant in Chile. The hybrid plant will be located about 10 kilometres outside the city of Calama in the Antofagasta Region and will consist of a 60.9 MW PV plant and a 90 MW wind farm. Enel Green Power has started construction on the 199 MW expansion of the Cimarron Bend wind farm in Clark County, Kansas. The expansion, consisting of 74 turbines, will increase the wind farm’s capacity to 599 MW from the current 400 MW, making it the largest wind farm in Enel’s North American portfolio. First Solar has signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Dow for its Gulf Coast operations. Dow’s Texas Operations is the largest petrochemical site in the western hemisphere. Under the agreement, First Solar will supply Dow with renewable energy from 75 percent of its 200 megawatt (MW) AC Horizon Solar project in Frio County, Texas. The project will utilize First Solar’s Series 6 photovoltaic (PV) modules, designed and developed at the company’s research and development (R&D) centers in California and Ohio.
