Hawaiian Electric has submitted eight contracts for new grid-scale renewable energy and storage projects on Oahu and Maui to the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) for review and approval. The six projects on Oahu and two on Maui are part of the largest renewable energy procurement ever for Hawaii. If approved and completed, the combined projects are expected to, on average, lower electric bills by about $1 a month on Oahu and Maui. Australian Renewable Energy Agency has secured new long term funding from the Australian Government that will secure its future beyond 2022. The Prime Minister and Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction announced a total funding package of $1.62 billion for ARENA including guaranteed baseline funding of $1.43 billion over the next ten years. Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives’ (IEA) subsidiary company, White Construction, has been awarded an EPC wind contract in excess of $100 million in the state of Indiana. The award is for the construction of a 302 MW wind farm in Northern Indiana. Construction began in August, 2020 and is expected to be completed in November 2021. Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (IWES) has put into operation a new test bench in Bremerhaven in the scope of the Hil-GridCoP project.
