Voltalia, an international player in renewable energies, has reached 1,015 of installed capacity at end 2020,overpassing its 1-gigawatt target set in 2016. Voltalia has increased its portfolio of installed plants by 18 percent since September 30, 2020. Siemens Gamesa has signed its first wind power project in Ethiopia with state-owned electricity company Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP). The 100MW Assela wind farm will be located between the towns of Adama and Assela, approximately 150 km south of the capital, Addis Ababa, and will contributetoclean and affordable powerfor the country’s electricity grid. Tesco has removed one billion pieces of plastic from its UK business in just one year. In early 2020, Tesco became the first UK retailer to remove plastic wrapped multipacks from its stores and sell loose cans at the same price, a change that has saved 67 million pieces of plastic annually. Enel Green Power has started construction of the Castelmauro wind farm in Molise. The plant will be built between the municipalities of Castelmauro and Roccavivara, in the province of Campobasso, and will consist of seven wind turbines of 4.2 MW each, for a total capacity of 29.4 MW. The wind farm is expected enter service by the end of 2021. GE Renewable Energy has secured a 1050 MW order for Pattern Energy’s Western Spirit Wind farms in New Mexico. The 377-turbine order will power the equivalent of more than 590,000 homes. The agreement also includes a 10-year full-service agreement (FSA). Western Spirit Wind will utilize turbines ranging from 2.3-2.8 in nameplate rating and will utilize various tower heights to optimize the wind capture for the project.
