The South Australian Government and the Port of Rotterdam Authority have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to study the feasibility of exporting green hydrogen made in South Australia to Rotterdam. The partnership of South Australia and the Port of Rotterdam will build upon a $1.25 million hydrogen export modelling tool and prospectus, released in October 2020, looking at establishing green hydrogen supply chains from South Australia. South Australia is the first sub-national jurisdiction to enter into such an agreement with the Port of Rotterdam. The Port is doing similar feasibility studies regarding the production and shipping of hydrogen with…

H24US has proved its advanced polymer membrane technology performance in selecting hydrogen from other gases with very high throughput. The H24US process, called H2PrimeEnergy, uses certain specialized materials and proprietary processing steps. Blending hydrogen into the existing natural gas infrastructure has national and regional benefits for energy storage, resiliency, and emissions reductions. Hydrogen produced from renewable, nuclear, or other resources can be injected into natural gas pipelines with the blend used by conventional natural gas customers to generate power and heat. H24US produces a low cost, high performance membrane for separating hydrogen from multicomponent gas streams. These inexpensive membranes can…

Emerson has become a member of the European Clean Hydrogen Alliance (ECHA). Hydrogen’s share of the energy mix in Europe is currently less than 2%, but has the potential to rise to 10-23% by 2050, according the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre. In joining the ECHA, Emerson will be at the forefront of hydrogen developments in Europe, thereby actively supporting the goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, as outlined in the European Union’s European Green Deal. The ECHA was established by the European Commission in March 2020 as part of its new industrial strategy for Europe. Its aim…

Haldor Topsoe and Aquamarine have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the purpose of building a green ammonia facility based on SOEC electrolysis. Aquamarine is developing a large-scale green ammonia facility to be constructed in multiple stages. In the first stage of the project, the proposed facility will use Topsoe’s proprietary solid oxide electrolyzer cells (SOEC) to produce green hydrogen from 100 megawatt of renewable electricity. The hydrogen will be further processed into 300 ton/day of green ammonia, also using Topsoe technology. The produced ammonia can be used as a green marine fuel or as fertilizer. Aquamarine will develop…
