Parkwind, in a joint operation with MHI Vestas and Jan De Nul, has completed the final installation of turbines at the Northwester 2 offshore wind farm in Belgium. The 219 MW project is located in the Belgian North Sea, approximately 50km off the shore of Ostend, and is the first project to use the world’s highest rated V164-9.5 MW turbines in commercial operation. ABB will provide electric propulsion, power, energy storage, control and automation technology for a first tug in South Asia capable of switching between low emission liquefied natural gas (LNG) engines and zero-emission battery power. The tug, which will operate in Singapore harbor, has been ordered by Sembcorp Marine subsidiary Jurong Marine Services for delivery from the Sembcorp Marine shipyard by the end of 2020. Hellenic Cables has teamed up with Enel Green Power to ensure that 100 percent of its power supply needs in Greece come from renewable energy. The deal covers all of Hellenic Cables’ industrial facilities in Greece. This includes its submarine cables plant in Corinth and the high-voltage cables plant in Thiva. First 8MW wind turbine has been installed at Borssele 1&2 offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. This is the first out of 94 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines that will be installed at the site, Ørsted said on its social media. Sea Challenger vessel loads the turbine components in Port Esbjerg, prior to transporting them to the installation site around 22 kilometers off the coast of the Zeeland Province. CWind has received a contract from ScottishPower Renewables for work on the East Anglia ONE offshore wind project. CWind will provide subsea maintenance of the foundations and offshore substation, subsea surveys, corrective maintenance, as well as pre-engineering studies. The three-year contract, worth up to £8.2 million, will see the company’s staff working both onshore and offshore servicing the wind farm.
