Aqueos Corporation has completed a diving contract for support of the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) generation project development in the U.S. Aqueos deployed an IMCA compliant diving system and personnel onto a 175′ class lift boat to support the work. The work consisted of trenching the HDD pull in conduit, installation of sealing flanges, pull-in monitoring operations and protecting the HDD exit site by installing 45-tons of washed local gravel. “We capitalized on our years of experience in the oilfields of the Gulf Of Mexico. Solar Steel, a division of the Gonvarri Industries, will supply three new projects in Japan with its RackSmarT fixed solar structure. The projects are 65MW, 15MW and 14MW in size, respectively located in Gunma, Fukushima and Tottori prefectures. The sum of these projects will generate enough energy to supply 47,600 homes. With these projects, Solar Steel will have supplied 13 photovoltaic plants in Japan totaling 383 MW of fixed structure. Solar Steel diverse supply chain allows to have the best relation quality, cost and delivery times for each project location.

Sunrun and Southern California Edison (SCE) have joined forces to launch one of the first residential energy storage virtual power plants in the United States. SSE has made a final investment decision for the 103-turbine, 443MW Viking onshore wind farm, located in Shetland. Viking is wholly owned by SSE Renewables having been developed in partnership with Viking Energy Shetland. Once built it will be the largest onshore wind farm in the UK in terms of annual electricity output, which is expected to be around 1.9TWh each year, therefore playing a vital role in contributing towards the UK and Scotland’s net-zero targets. Færøysund live fish carrier is set to become one of the most environmentally friendly vessels of its kind, with the supply of ABB’s power and energy system. SEAI has awarded €1 million to Irish companies and research institutions to carry out energy research projects in the areas of smart energy systems and offshore renewable energy. Funding for Irish participants is provided by SEAI through the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment, with additional funding leveraged from the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme. Irish researchers will collaborate with companies and research institutions across Europe on seven new projects. Geronimo Energy (Geronimo), a National Grid company, has started construction of two Michigan solar projects for which Consumers Energy (Consumers) previously executed Power Purchase Agreements (PPA). The projects, Bingham and Temperance, are part of a solar portfolio called MiSolar Portfolio and are located in Clinton and Monroe counties, respectively. Both projects are expected to begin operations by the end of this year. Geronimo has contracted with Michigan-based Engineering, Construction, and Procurement (EPC) contractor, J. New Energy Equity (NEE) has teamed up with New Resource Solutions (NRS) and Solscient Energy (Solscient) to complete a 789 kW ground-mounted solar array for Hicksville Public Schools. The solar system is expected to produce more than 30,000 MWh over the life of the project, the energy equivalent of taking over 4,000 cars off the road for a year. The system will be owned by Powell Associates based in Aspen, Colorado. A multi-million pound fund has been set up in Scotland to help the energy sector recover from the dual economic impacts of COVID-19 and the oil and gas price crash.
