Wärtsilä and CBO, Brazil’s operator of offshore support vessels, have signed an agreement to convert a vessel from CBO’s fleet to operate with hybrid propulsion. The ‘CBO Flamengo’ will be the first vessel in Latin America to be fitted with a battery pack for hybrid propulsion, which will improve the vessel’s energy consumption and reduce its carbon footprint. Mayor Cooper’s administration has entered into a partnership with Nashville Electric Service, the Tennessee Valley Authority, and Vanderbilt University to construct 100 megawatts of utility-scale solar power under the TVA Green Invest program. Vanderbilt will be a 25-megawatt co-subscriber to the solar array, thereby reaching its own 100 percent renewable-energy goal for campus operations. DHL has started operating the first purpose-built fully electric 16-tonne vehicle in the UK. The Volvo FL Electric 4×2 rigid is now part of DHL Supply Chain’s fleet in London, making last mile deliveries into the West End shopping district.
