ESA with France’s CNES space agency plan to power Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, with renewable energy. The Spaceport covers 700 square kilometers and comprises the launch range, three operational launch complexes with another under development for Ariane 6, and propellant manufacturing plants. About half the power at the base is used to cool buildings while energy-intensive solid and liquid propellant processes take up most of the rest. The yearly bill is several million euros. Clean Power Alliance (CPA) has approved a new solar plus storage project, CPA’s first renewable energy project to be installed within its service territory. The Estrella project will be built by sPower and add 56 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy capacity and 28 MW/112 MWh of battery storage in the Antelope Valley area of unincorporated Los Angeles County. The project will generate enough electricity to power 23,000 Southern California homes with 100% carbon-free energy and serve 1.4% of CPA’s electrical load under a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA). Wisconsin’s first large-scale solar project, the 150-megawatt (MW) Two Creeks Solar owned by Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) and Wisconsin Public Service (WPS), has been completed and powering Madison-area households and businesses. Esdec has acquired PanelClaw, the supplier of solar mounting systems for commercial roofs in the U.S. With the acquisition of PanelClaw, Esdec expands its customer base and portfolio of products available to the growing commercial and industrial (C&I) solar market. Cubico Sustainable Investments (Cubico) has completed the acquisition of Bisaccia Wind and Torretta Wind, two operational onshore wind farms, from Blunova. The wind farms, which have a combined capacity of 16 MW, are located in Campania and Apulia. Immediately following the acquisition, Cubico completed the refinancing of the projects using the accordion facility of an existing green loan financing with Crédit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank, Siemens Financial Services through Siemens Bank and Société Générale. Vestas has signed a conditional agreement for a wind power project in Latin America. The project has a total capacity above Vestas defined announcement threshold of 500 MW. If and when the project translates into a firm and unconditional order according to Vestas’ definition, the company will disclose more details.

Goldwind Australia and TransGrid have signed a commercial agreement for the connection and construction of connection assets for Coppabella wind farm located in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales. The project is expected to employ approximately 150 staff during the construction phase, and up to 15 permanent ongoing maintenance employees once operational. LOC Singapore has received a contract from PowerChina HuaDong Engineering (PCH) to provide marine warranty survey (MWS) services for Phase I of Binh Dai offshore wind farm in Vietnam. LOC will provide MWS services of the proposed support fleet, along with other marine vessel inspection and marine assurance services. The 310 MW Binh Dai offshore wind farm will comprise 74 wind turbines supplied by Siemens Gamesa and Goldwind. Phase I of the wind farm will comprise seven Siemens Gamesa turbines. ABB has secured a contract with Sefine Shipyard to provide power and propulsion solution to FrøyGruppen’s hybrid live fish carrier, future-proofing the vessel for safe and sustainable operations. The live fish carrier, designed by Møre Maritime, will be the first vessel of its kind to feature ABB’s power distribution system Onboard DC Grid.
