The Brazilian ambassador in Portugal argued that green hydrogen is the best tool to replace the use of oil and coal, considering that the barrel of oil will be replaced by 2050 by the barrel of hydrogen. “We have to reduce dependence on oil and coal and reduce global warming, and green hydrogen is the solution,” said Raimundo Carreiro Silva at the opening of the Forum “The Challenges of Development – The Future of State Relationship”, which runs until Thursday in Lisbon. “It is not possible to fully replace coal and oil for electricity, and green hydrogen is the solution,”…

Green hydrogen from renewable energies should only be competitive in a few years. But the Ukraine war is clearly accelerating the change. Because hydrogen from renewable energies was more than twice as expensive as hydrogen from fossil natural gas, experts did not expect a breakthrough for this future technology for another five to ten years. Since the price of gas has risen to a new record level, however, sustainable hydrogen is now paying for itself much faster than expected – and could thus significantly accelerate the ramp-up of the hydrogen economy. “The change is already here. Wherever the production of…

Torvex Energy has proved that its patented technique is capable of producing hydrogen from saltwater. Torvex Energy, a Stockton-based research and development business, recently announced the invention of a new method for hydrogen production from saltwater. The company collaborated with the Material Processing Institute to validate the process. This novel method of hydrogen production from saltwater produces no oxygen gas. As such, it is distinctly distinct from more conventional water electrolysis processes used to generate green hydrogen. Having said that, the team behind the manufacturing process describes it as an environmentally friendly technology. The company is pursuing patents for this…
