Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is collaborating with Bakken Energy of the United States on what is expected to be one of North America’s largest clean hydrogen projects, with a capacity of more than 300,000 tons per year. In North Dakota, an old chemical facility will be repurposed to extract hydrogen from natural gas. It will absorb and store carbon dioxide released throughout the process, with the goal of sequestering 6 million tons per year, the equivalent of 2.6 million passenger vehicle emissions annually.
