India and Japan decided to expand their clean energy alliance to include electric vehicles, battery storage, and green hydrogen as the two Asian economic powerhouses shift toward net zero carbon emissions. After Japan’s Prime Minister Kishida Fumio met India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the 14th India-Japan Annual Summit, the two countries issued a joint statement outlining areas of collaboration. “India and Japan recognize the importance of pursuing a range of energy sources to provide a safe and stable supply of energy in order to achieve both economic growth and climate change mitigation goals. They agree that there is no…

According to Muscle Cars and Trucks, Ford recently submitted a patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office for a hydrogen-fueled combustion engine. A typical hydrogen-powered car uses a propulsion system similar to that of an electric vehicle, with hydrogen energy being converted to electricity via the fuel cell. Ford’s new patent, on the other hand, is for a hydrogen-powered turbocharged combustion engine. Furthermore, the company’s engine will theoretically be capable of running over a wide variety of air/fuel lambda values. As with a conventional internal combustion engine, the combustion process would be regulated via exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and…

TSMC, a semiconductor foundry, has set a 2030 energy-savings target for its suppliers, in part due to the fact that extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography consumes a significant amount of hydrogen and generates a significant amount of carbon dioxide (CO2). Suppliers intend to produce “green hydrogen” in order to offset carbon emissions. TSMC’s 2030 energy-saving and carbon-reduction goals have prompted suppliers to invest actively in green energy. Additionally, it will generate additional energy-saving and carbon-reducing solutions, such as hydrogen production. Because EUV lithography is required for high-end semiconductors and consumes a significant amount of hydrogen and produces a significant amount of…

ABB has been awarded two significant contracts by Plug Power Inc. (PLUG), a leading provider of turnkey solutions for the global green hydrogen economy, to supply the electrical systems for two new hydrogen plants in North America that are expected to produce a combined 60 tons of green hydrogen per day. When used as fuel, green hydrogen is produced using renewable energy sources and emits no carbon. The first plant, Project Gateway, will be located in Genesee County, New York. It will be North America’s largest green hydrogen production facility, daily supplying 45 metric tons of green liquid hydrogen to…
