Bavaria will acquire the first hydrogen train for pilot tests on Bayerische Regiobahn lines starting in mid-2023, according to Siemens.
The study shows that Hysata’s ‘capillary-fed electrolysis cell’ can produce green hydrogen from water at a cell energy efficiency of 98 percent, far exceeding the International Renewable Energy Agency’s (IRENA) 2050 target and significantly better than existing electrolyzer technologies, resulting in a hydrogen production cost of less than A$2/kg (US$1.50/kg).
MITECO (Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Sain), opens four aid programs for the innovative renewable hydrogen value chain with 250 million that will boost technical knowledge and productive capacity through the development of technological advances and prototypes along the hydrogen value chain, as well as test facilities and new manufacturing lines. The program for large electrolyzers will have 100 million, the demonstration and validation of hydrogen vehicles with 80 million, industrial and experimental research with 40 million, and the promotion of capacities and technological advances in test lines and manufacturing with 30 million.
In the framework of the European PIEEC hydrogen project, 15 French initiatives have just been selected. They are focused on the decarbonization of industry, the development of gigafactories and the acceleration of hydrogen mobility. Visiting an Air Liquide site on March 8, Bruno Le Maire released the map of the first 15 French projects selected for the PIIEC hydrogen program. Launched last December, this “Major Project of Common European Interest”, dedicated to H2, is intended to be a “real launch pad” for the low-carbon hydrogen sector in Europe, the government said in a press release. And among more than 100…
The ministers of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, and Industry, Reyes Maroto, and the president of the Balearic Government, Francina Armengol, have inaugurate in the Majorcan town of Lloseta the first plant in southern Europe that manufactures green hydrogen for use as fuel exclusively from photovoltaic solar panels. The facility began production and storage of hydrogen last December, and those responsible are confident that in May they will be able to begin continuous production to supply public and private road transport and to supply heating installations, among other uses. The project, which has the backing of the European Commission and the…
The funds will be used to conduct a feasibility study into the notion of storing hydrogen as a liquid carrier, a world first, as part of a partnership led by Corre Energy.
Iveco Group is preparing to launch a range of hydrogen-powered light commercial vehicles. The company sees this as an opportunity to improve its competitiveness on alternative platforms and powertrains as fuel prices skyrocket following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. It is also for this purpose that the company is developing its partnership with Hyundai, as announced last week. CEO Gerrit Marx said so in an interview with Bloomberg. “The worsening of the energy crisis two weeks after the war is a wake-up call for consumers, but in the long run it will boost the energy transition. People will be thinking more…
In the United Kingdom, food giant Unilever recently started using hydrogen instead of natural gas to make consumer products. Detergent brand Persil will now be made (partly) with blue hydrogen. This is hydrogen produced from natural gas whereby the CO2 is captured and stored. The trial is intended to show that the food industry can switch to hydrogen as a fuel for chemical processes. Now parent company Unilever still uses natural gas for heat processes. By switching to hydrogen, the process can eventually become more sustainable. Unilever is working with two British hydrogen companies for the technology and the raw…
HYVIA confirms its debut in France and the deployment of its entire hydrogen transportation solutions. HYVIA’s goal is to capture 30% of the European LCV H2 market by 2030. By the end of 2022, the plant will also begin manufacturing H2 refueling stations and producing low-carbon hydrogen via a first electrolyzer. “Since its creation on June 3, 2021, HYVIA is moving fast. Our plant represents a major human, technological and industrial challenge. It is a fantastic illustration of our unique joint venture: we jointhe expertise of Renault Group, a dominant player in the automotive industry, and Plug Power, a worldleader in…
Loop Energy announced the debut of Mobility & Innovation’s H2Bus, an eight-meter hydrogen-electric minibus. Mobility & Innovation constructed the bus, which has logged more than 1,200 kilometers, to demonstrate the viability of hydrogen fuel cell technology in transit vehicles and to advertise the company’s future product range. The bus, which seats 21 passengers, is a zero-emissions mode of urban transportation. A Loop Energy S300 Series hydrogen fuel cell system plus an electric motor will produce power. Mobility & Innovation will showcase the bus in Slovakia, Italy, Switzerland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic in order to secure orders for the H2Bus around…
