Fortescue Future Industries has received approval from the Queensland government to connect two proposed green hydrogen projects to the grid, allowing them to tap renewable energy supplies. New Mexico is collaborating with three other western states – Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming – on a regional proposal for a hydrogen energy hub that might vie for a share of $8 billion in federal infrastructure funding.

Chevron’s announcement is part of a larger, long-term plan to build a green hydrogen fuel infrastructure that would, among other things, provide a zero-emission energy source for commercial and passenger vehicles. Hydrogen is seen as an important part of the Bay Area’s energy transformation.
