ENERGODATA has selected Leclanché (LECN) to provide its proprietary energy management software (EMS) along with a battery energy storage system (BESS) for a novel application in a natural gas-fired power plant in Levice. The Leclanché EMS and BESS will be installed in the Veolia gas power plant in Western Slovakia. ScottishPower has signed an agreement with Global Energy Group at its Port of Nigg site to identify processes and plant that could be powered by green hydrogen. BASF and EDF Energy North America have signed a 35 MW Wind Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) that will bring 25 MW wind power to BASF’s Verbund site in Freeport and 10 MW wind power to the Pasadena site. Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and CrossWind have entered into a deal to supply the turbines for the 759 MW Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind park. This involves the procurement of 69 SG 11.0-200 DD offshore wind turbines and a 15-year service and maintenance deal. Final requirements are expected to be completed in the coming months, turning the deal into a firm order for Siemens Gamesa. H2GO Power, in collaboration with the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) and Imperial College London, are trialling the use of artificial intelligence (AI) software coupled with hydrogen technology. Funded by Innovate UK and the Sustainable Innovation Fund, the HyAI (Hydrogen Artificial Intelligence) project is a pilot demonstration of AI software-controlled hydrogen storage technology. Solaris Bus & Coach has signed three framework agreements for the exclusive supply of up to 182 buses which will be used throughout Austria. The operator Österreichische Postbus has opted for Solaris as a potential supplier of both emission-free and conventionally driven vehicles. Swansea University and Hanson UK have installed new green hydrogen demonstration unit at the company’s Regen GGBS plant in Port Talbot, South Wales. The demonstration unit, which generates green hydrogen through renewable energy, has been developed as part of the £9.2m ‘Reducing Industrial Carbon Emissions (RICE)’ project which has been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government, and is aimed at the deployment of industrial scale demonstrations of new technology. Siemens Gamesa 5.X platform has gathered momentum in Sweden heading into 2021 following the signing of a 62 MW deal to supply two adjacent sites in the Sunne region. The deal with local utility firm Tekniska verken will cover the supply of 7 SG 5.8-170 turbines at Fryksdalshöjden and 3 of the same turbines at the closeby site of Norra Länsmansberget. The Nordex Group has received an order comprising seven N133 turbines for a wind farm in Italy from Enel Green Power. The turbines will be installed at a 30 MW wind farm in the Basilicata region in the south of the country. The contract also includes a service contract of the turbines for an initial two-year contract. The construction and completion of the wind farm will take place at the beginning of 2022. RWE and ASML have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Under the terms of the 10-year agreement ASML will be provided with more than 250 gigawatt hours of green electricity per year from RWE. The power will be delivered from a portfolio of various renewable energy sources across different technologies: two new RWE onshore wind farms and one solar plant in the Netherlands, as well as an offshore wind farm in Belgium.
