Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) has, on behalf of the Australian Government, provided $2.6 million in funding to Horizon Power to build Australia’s first remote microgrid using renewable hydrogen generation in Denham, Western Australia. The project will be a first-of-its-kind demonstration that will utilize solar and renewable hydrogen generation and storage to provide 526 MWh of dispatchable renewable electricity, enough to power the equivalent of 100 residential homes. The plant will consist of a 348 kW hydrogen electrolyser with accompanying compression and storage and 100 kW fuel cell, alongside 704 kW of solar that will power the electrolyser to produce…
The last of 77 MHI Vestas V164-9.5 MW turbines has now been installed at the Borssele III/IV project site in the Dutch North Sea. The final set of turbines will now be commissioned and tested in preparation for maximum power generation. The Borssele III/IV project is rated at 731.5 MW and once completed, will supply enough clean renewable energy to supply up to 2.3 percent of the total Dutch electricity demand. The Borssele III/IV project, located 22 kilometers off the coast of Zeeland, Netherlands, is being built by the Blauwwind consortium, consisting of the Partners Group, Shell, Eneco, Diamond Generating Europe…
The Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) will set up GWEC India to work with governments and stakeholders to restore momentum to wind power growth and to assist India in achieving its ambitious renewable energy targets. The new industry association will focus on building India’s vast potential and local supply capacity, resolving regulatory bottlenecks, sharing best international practices and experience, and fostering dialog and collaboration between government and industry stakeholders. India is the world’s fourth-largest onshore wind market with a combined capacity of almost 38 GW. The Government has set an ambitious target of 175 GW of installed renewable energy capacity…
Ørsted has fully commissioned the Borssele 1 & 2 offshore wind farm. The wind farm has a capacity of 752 MW, making it the largest offshore wind farm in the Netherlands and the second largest offshore wind farm in the world. Borssele 1 & 2 supplies enough renewable energy to power one million Dutch households. Borssele 1 & 2 is the first offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. “This is an important milestone for the green transformation and for Ørsted. We’re proud that we’ve commissioned our first offshore wind farm in the Netherlands, who is among the global frontrunners in…
