GE Renewable Energy has been appointed by Azora to supply 19 Cypress onshore wind turbines for the 100 MW Cuevas de Velasco wind farm located in the province of Cuenca in Spain. Azora will run the 5.5 MW Cypress turbines with a rotor diameter of 158 meters, the most powerful turbine ever in Spain. This marks the first order in Spain for GE’s Cypress platform, the largest onshore wind turbine in the field. The scope of GE’s work would also include a 30-year service agreement. Clearway Energy Group (Clearway) has finished repowering the now 160 MW Langford wind farm, increasing its nameplate capacity by 10 MW and generational output by more than 25%. Repowering Langford, which began original operations in 2009, will increase the project’s operational life by over a decade. Turbine equipment was provided by GE Renewable Energy and construction for the repowering was led by Mortensen. Capital Dynamics’s Clean Energy Infrastructure (CEI) business has achieved financial close on a 383 megawatt (MWdc) solar photovoltaic project, located on the Moapa River Indian Reservation in Nevada. This transaction represents the financial close for the Eagle Shadow Mountain project and builds on the initial collaboration with 8minute Solar Energy, which continues to oversee project development. The project is anticipated to generate up to 400 new jobs during the 18-month construction period, with 10 full-time employees working at the plant upon completion by the end of 2021. Equinor has entered into an agreement with Eni to sell a 10 percent equity interest in the Dogger Bank wind farm A and B assets in the UK for a total consideration of around £202.5 million. Eni also entered into an agreement to buy a 10 percent stake in Dogger Bank A and B from project partner SSE on the same terms. GRS has successfully energized the Molong solar farm, operated by Amp Energy, in the Molong area of New South Wales. It’s up and running after delivering its first output, taking a preliminary step towards its commissioning and beginning grid link tests. The photovoltaic project, which covers 80 hectares of land on which 89,088 photovoltaic modules and 1,024 solar trackers have been installed, has an installed capacity of 39 MWp, which will generate approximately 78,000 MWh of renewable energy per year. RES has signed an agreement with local civils contractor, Edward Mackay, at its Kintradwell wind farm proposal in east Sutherland. The agreement grants Edward Mackay the right of first refusal of civil construction work for the planned scheme –helping to ensure important local jobs and employment opportunities for local people should the project obtain consent. RES has also committed itself to funding a local apprenticeship at Edward Mackay, with a view to completing the apprenticeship in time for construction work beginning at Kintradwell. Vestas recently unveiled to the Indian market, the V155-3.3 MW turbine – optimised for low and ultra-low wind conditions. Based on an internationally tested 4 MW platform, the V155-3.3 MW increases the turbine swept area by 67 percent compared to the V120-2.2 MW and greatly enhances partial load output in low-wind conditions with a high rotor-to-rating ratio.
