Meridian Energy will shortly launch development of a new $395 million wind farm in Hawke’s Bay, enhancing New Zealand’s willingness to take action on climate change and promoting the transition of the economy into renewable energy sources. The Harapaki Wind Farm will be New Zealand’s second-largest wind farm with 41 turbines generating 176 MW of renewable energy, enough to fuel more than 70,000 average households. Construction will take about three years and is projected to generate 260 new jobs. “Renewable generation is an engine of economic growth for New Zealand. There’s a massive clean energy transformation underway in the New…
Maersk and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) have unveiled plans for the establishment of Europe’s largest production facility of green ammonia. A.P. Moller – Maersk is on a quest to find the marine fuels of the future with green ammonia being one of three preferred fuel types. The Power-to-X facility located in Esbjerg on the Danish west coast will convert power from wind turbines to green ammonia. The green ammonia produced at the facility can be utilized by the agricultural sector as green fertilizer and by the shipping industry as a truly sustainable green fuel. A.P. Moller – Maersk along with…
Atos and HDF Energy will develop a complete end-to-end long-term solution to supply datacenters with green hydrogen generated by renewable energy. Atos and HDF will be the first available on the market for datacenters with heavy power consuming workloads, with the aim to demonstrate a first full production center operated using green hydrogen in 2023. Atos will provide a complete end-to-end green datacenter solution by designing and providing the hardware, software and integration services that make it possible to exploit the electricity produced by green hydrogen so that it can be used in datacenters. This includes using the most advanced…
Nortegas has launched the H2SAREA project to address energy challenges regarding the efficient use of hydrogen. The injection of this renewable gas into the existing natural gas distribution networks will not only allow infrastructures totaling over 8,000 km in the case of Nortegas to be used, but it will also help to consolidate the role of hydrogen as a lever to decarbonize the economy, for the residential, industrial and mobility markets. It will thus cover the demand of sectors that cannot be electrified given the nature of their activity. The project consists of researching new technological solutions, equipment and components,…
ITOCHU Corporation has agreed to implement joint operationalization research on a hydrogen business based on the local production for local consumption model in northern Kyushu with Nippon Coke & Engineering Company and Compagnie Maritime Belge. Featuring both the hydrogen byproduct of Nippon Coke and CMB’s hydrogen engine, this project creates both supply of and demand for hydrogen in northern Kyushu, with the goal of quickly building a supply chain based on the local production for local consumption model to aid in the realization of a carbon-free society. In Japan’s green growth strategies, hydrogen is seen as a key technology for…
GE Renewable Energy will supply a total of 15 of GE’s 4 MW-137 wind turbines for the Cau Dat wind farm in Vietnam.
GBM Works reinvents the sound of silence, that’s acceptable even by German standards.
H2 Green Steel (H2GS) will be a large-scale steel producer based on a fossil-free manufacturing process targeting large European OEMs. H2GS will be located in the Boden-Luleå region in northern Sweden that offers unique conditions for fossil-free steel production. The project includes a giga-scale green hydrogen plant as an integrated part of the steel production facility. Production will begin in 2024 and by 2030, H2GS will have annual production capacity of five million tons of high-quality steel. Henrik Henriksson, currently CEO of Scania, will lead the company. The global steel industry is one of the world’s largest emitters of carbon…
