Axpo’s subsidiary for the Belgian market has recently signed an agreement to purchase power from a wind farm in Estinnes, in the Walloon region. The 82 MW wind farm owned by CGN Europe Energy generates about 150 GWh of renewable power per year with its 11 turbines and is Belgium’s largest onshore wind farm. The Nordex Group has received an order for the delivery of 13 N133/4.8 turbines in the United Kingdom. The order also includes a 15-year premium service contract for turbines linked to production-based availability. The 62 MW wind farm will be installed in the former coal mining area of South Lanarkshire, Scotland. Vestas has upgraded the existing turbine versions of the EnVentus platform to a standard rating of 6.0 MW. The upgrade to 6.0 MW delivers an increase in energy production of more than 3 percent compared to 5.6 MW depending on site-specific conditions, while the siteability parameters are maintained. Upgrades are allowed by advances in load assessment and hardware upgrades unique to the generator, gearbox and cooling system. Società Gasdotti Italia (SGI) commissioned DNV GL to determine the feasibility of progressively moving Italy’s second largest gas network from natural gas to renewable gases, including hydrogen. The study would help SGI’s goal to completely decarbonize the supply of energy to Italian homes and businesses through its gas network. DNV GL experts in Groningen, Norway and Milan will explore the feasibility of hydrogen transport options through 1,800 kilometers of SGI’s regional and national high-pressure network. Altus Power has completed the acquisition of a 4-megawatt solar operating portfolio consisting of four single-axis tracker projects and one fixed-tilt project. The projects are selling clean, renewable energy to Georgia Power. Solar projects generate approximately 6.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, enough energy to fuel 540 homes. The Western Australian Energy Minister, Bill Johnston, has officially opened a 180MW Warradarge wind farm in the Mid-West state. Via a phased commissioning process, the 51-turbine wind farm will power up to its maximum 180MW capacity by the end of October 2020.
