The Green Investment Group (GIG) of Macquarie and the global energy company Total signed a series of agreements to co-develop an initial 2,3 GW portfolio of floating offshore wind projects in Korea. The portfolio consists of five projects-three totaling 1.5 GW in Ulsan, and two totaling 800 MW in South Jeolla Province. The partners plan to launch co-development activities in autumn of 2020, subject to the completion of regulatory approvals and the fulfillment of other precedent conditions. Q CELLS has secured the rights to connect 315 MW of new solar and storage capacity in Portugal’s second solar auction. Q CELLS won half of the 12 available lots in the bidding phase of the latest auction that took place. A total capacity of 700 MW was tendered, and companies in Portugal were invited to lodge bids with a storage component included for the first time. Sonnedix Japan has completed the acquisition of a 2.3 MW solar PV plant in the Mie prefecture, centre of Japan on behalf of the Sonnedix Group. Under the Feed-in – Tariff scheme the plant has a PPA with Chubu Electric Power. Wärtsilä has been contracted with Duke Energy, for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of three battery storage facilities during the past six months. These facilities will be located in North Carolina and Indiana in the United States. Wärtsilä’s GEMS advanced energy management platform will be deployed across the utility’s existing and planned battery storage sites and solar assets across six energy distribution areas. Nordex Group has installed the first of 114 turbines for the Nysäter project in Sweden after completion of the necessary infrastructure work. At the end of 2018, the Nordex obtained from RWE Renewables a contract for the turnkey construction of 104 N149/4.0-4.5 turbines and 10 N131/3900 turbines, consisting of two separate Hästkullen and Björnlandhöjden sites and including civil and electrical infrastructure works.
