Vestas has obtained a 53 MW order from Thuan Binh Wind Power Joint Stock Company (TBW), a local developer of two wind projects in Vietnam. Vestas will supply, deliver, build and commission a total of 13 V150-4.2 MW wind turbines delivered at different power ratings to maximize the energy output of the projects. The two projects–Phu Lac Phase 2 wind farm and Loi Hai 2 wind farm–are situated in the provinces of Binh Thuan and Ninh Thuan on the south-central coast of Vietnam. This is the second time that Vestas will be collaborating with TBW, which owns the 24 MW…

According to GlobalData, China and European countries have slowly resumed operations and relaxed lockdown restrictions, and the effects of the global economic downturn will dent the renewables sector. The latest study from GlobalData,’ Thematic Research: Renewable Energy,’ highlights that decreased demand raises project financing uncertainty, which in turn affects construction timelines and stunts growth. “Power purchase agreements (PPAs) have and will continue to be integral in supporting the deployment of renewable energy without government subsidies, and for corporations to attain their sustainability goals. Project developers are reliant on cash flows from PPAs, which, in certain cases, could represent their entire…
Maxeon Solar Technologies has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Canadian Solar Japan in Tokyo District Court, Japan. The prosecution alleges that Canadian Solar Japan is in violation of Maxeon’s Japan Patent No. JP6642841B2 (Shingled Solar Cell Module) for the patented and fundamental shingled solar cell panel technology used under the brand name ‘SunPower Performance’ to deploy solar panels that Maxeon designs, manufactures and sells. Canadian Solar Japan is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canadian Solar, with operations and production facilities in China and South-East Asia, and is headquartered in Canada. Usually, shingled solar cell panels are created by splitting solar…
Eolus has signed an agreement with Commerz Real concerning the selling of three wind farms with a combined installed capacity of 68 MW in southern Sweden. The preliminary purchase price for the wind farms amounts to €82.5 million. The deal includes all the shares of the three project companies holding project rights for the Boarp (24 MW) wind farms in the municipality of Vaggeryd, Dållebo (26 MW) in the municipality of Ulricehamn and Rosenskog (18 MW) in the municipality of Falköping, all located in southern Sweden. The wind farms will be built by Eolus and the construction will initially be…
Vestas has signed a 25 MW contract with long-standing customer PNE for the Boitzenhagen wind project in Lower Saxony, Northern Germany. The order is originating from Germany’s fourth auction in 2020 for wind energy. Vestas developed a site-specific wind power solution in close cooperation with PNE, featuring one V126-3.45 MW turbine at 137 meters hub height and six V136-3.45 MW turbines delivered in 3.6 MW Power Optimized Mode at 132 meters hub height in accordance with a long-term service agreement. The tailor-made solution leverages the versatility of the 4 MW platform to optimize the energy output of the project while catering to…
EDF Renewables North America has signed a storage contract with CleanPowerSF as an extension to the previously negotiated 20-year solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). A 200 megawatt hour (MWh) battery storage device will now be combined with the 100 megawatt (MWac) Maverick 6 Solar Project. By the end of 2021, the project is scheduled to come online and generate ample renewable energy annually to power 49,000 typical California homes. The project is located on federal land within a Solar Energy Zone (SEZ) and Development Focus Area, operated by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM), in Riverside County, California. The…
RWE Renewables and its project partners have signed lease agreements with The Crown Estate for the construction of four projects in the United Kingdom to expand the current Gwynt y Môr, Galloper, Greater Gabbard and Rampion offshore wind farms. The seabed leases awarded include extension projects with a total potential installed capacity of approximately 1.8 Gigawatts (GW), with a pro rata share of roughly 900 megawatts (MW) for RWE. In addition, it was agreed to seek to build the remaining seabed option in the original Zone 6 of the current Rampion project and to combine it with the wind farm…
Enel Green Power Spain, has connected an 18 MW wind farm in the towns of Blesa and Moyuela, in the provinces of Teruel and Zaragoza, to the electricity grid. The total expenditure amounted to €21,93 million for the project. The Cañaseca wind farm has five 3.6 MW unit-powered wind turbines and will produce about 55.28 GWh annually. Its commissioning would prevent the annual release of approximately 25,740 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. In 2019, 13 wind farms in Aragon located in the provinces of Teruel and Zaragoza were linked by Enel Green Power Spain, with a total combined annual capacity…
Eolos has deployed its FLS200 floating lidar buoy off the coast of Ulsan in South Korea, for Shell, which partners with Hexicon and Coens to build floating offshore projects in the Asian nation. Shell chose Eolos to provide the turnkey services of a wind resource floating lidar and metocean measurement campaign. With water depths of 150 meters, the project brings the company into a new area and deeper waters simultaneously, in what is anticipated to be a harsh environment for the measurement campaign ahead, Eolos said. “A prestigious project award for Eolos, raising the profile of our ability to secure…
Maersk Supply Service and Ørsted have joined forces to test a prototype buoy that will serve as both a protected mooring point and a vessel charging station, potentially displacing renewable energy from a large amount of marine fuel. The solution, built by Maersk Supply Service, will be tested in 2021 on one of Ørsted’s offshore wind farms. Maersk Supply Service and Ørsted have formed a collaboration to test a charging buoy capable of supplying green electricity to offshore wind farm service vessels and probably to a wide range of maritime vessels. The buoy can be used to charge smaller battery-…
