GE Renewable Energy has been selected by PÜSPÖK Group as the supplier for two wind farms located in the Burgenland region in Austria. The 157 MW project, which will use 30 GE Cypress onshore wind turbines, represents significant progress for GE in the region. The arrangement, which includes a multi-year service contract, would allow GE to set up a service organization in the country next year. MHI Vestas has concluded a purchasing agreement with Fassmer Atech Composites Taiwan (FACT) for the local supply of spinner covers and nacelle covers. Spinner covers and nacelle covers are made of composite glass fiber material and shield wind turbine systems from the outer sea environment, which are especially useful for sometimes harsh conditions off the coast of Taiwan. Equinor has entered into an agreement with BP to sell 50 percent of non-operated interests in Empire Wind and Beacon Wind properties on the US East Coast for a total price prior to adjustment of $1.1 billion. The two companies are also forming a strategic alliance for further offshore wind development in the US through this deal. Global Power Generation (GPG), a joint venture between the Naturgy Energy Group (75 percent) and the Kuwait Investment Authority (25 percent), has been awarded a contract to construct a 107 MW wind farm approximately 150 kilometers from Melbourne.
