Saitec Offshore Technologies and the open sea test site Biscay Marine Energy Platform (BiMEP) have signed a contract to install DemoSATH project off the Basque Coast. The project will use SATH Technology to test the very first floating wind foundation connected to the Spanish grid. Operations are planned for late 2021. When linked to the grid DemoSATH is projected to supply nearly 2.000 homes with electricity. The first project is Coastal Virginia offshore wind, where two 6 MW wind turbines will be installed 27 miles off Virginia Beach, USA. BayWa r.e. has completed the Kuwabarajo Mega Solar No.4, its first solar park in Japan. The 11.9MW project covers 24 hectares and is located Izumi in the Kyushu Kagoshima Prefecture. Eneco and SwifterwinT have entered into a 15-year contract for the purchase of the power supplied by SwifterwinT’s 37 onshore wind turbines. As of 2023, these turbines will produce 780 GWh of green power per year, which is equal to the total electricity usage of about 275.000 households. GE Renewables has signed its first contract with Power China Guizhou Engineering to supply 12 units of 2.5-132 low-wind speed turbines for a 30MW wind farm near Puyang city, China.
