The state sector in New Zealand has taken another significant step towards a renewable energy future, as climate change minister James Shaw revealed six new initiatives that will be funded by the solar-powered public service fund of the government. OWC continues its international expansion with the establishment of a Polish office in support of offshore wind developments in the Baltic Sea. Vestas has secured an order of 101 MW for the second phase of the B&T wind farm with AMI AC Renewables, a joint venture between AC Energy and AMI Renewables. The order closely matches a previous order of 84 MW for the project’s first phase. The County of San Luis Obispo has completed two solar projects at the Department of Parks and Recreation’s Dairy Creek golf course and the Department of Social Services on South Higuera Street, both located in San Luis Obispo. These solar parking canopies are the first of several County solar projects expected to exceed 552 kilowatts (kW) marking a significant sustainability milestone for the County. The two projects, built and funded by ForeFront Power, are planned to provide more than 80 percent of the electricity needs on site. Innergex Renewable Energy has purchased all the Class B shares of a portfolio of six operating wind farms in Elmore County, Idaho, US for a purchase price of $56.8 million from Terna Energy. Nordex customers have ordered 217 wind turbines for projects with a combined output of 888.0 megawatts, from April to June. The intake of firm orders in the Projects segment (excluding the service business) reached a volume of 2,531.9 MW in the first half of 2020. Europe accounted for 83 percent of the order intake in the second quarter of 2020, with major projects in Spain and Ireland contributing to this share. Siemens Gamesa has scored a double order, including one for Vietnam’s largest nearshore wind farm, as the country advances rapidly on its renewable ambitions. The two deals will use the SG 5.0-145 turbines, which are among the most powerful turbines on the Vietnamese market, with 75 MW and 90 MW at the Tan Thuan and Thai Hoa wind farms respectively.
