Iberdrola has agreed to take majority investments in ventures with the renewable energy company Svea Vind Offshore (SVO) to build up to 9GW of offshore wind energy in Sweden in the future. A total of eight projects are in different stages of development, and operations are expected to begin in 2029. They are clustered around two regional clusters: Gavle (six wind farms with 5.1 GW in total) and Oxelosund (two offshore wind farms with 3.9 GW combined). MHI Vestas has entered into a contract to source high-voltage switchgear from Taiwan, extend existing supply chain commitments and become the first offshore wind turbine supplier to localize switchgear. With the participation of local Taiwanese producer, Shihlin Electric and Engineering Corporation (SEEC), MHI Vestas has signed a purchasing agreement with Mitsubishi Electric Europe to supply switchgear for upcoming offshore wind projects in Taiwan. Vestas has received an order for 249 MW of V136-4.2 MW turbines and V136-3.45 MW of turbines delivered in 3.6 MW of Power Optimized Mode for a U.S. project including 4 MW of previously purchased components, the project has a total capacity of 300 MW. The order includes the turbine delivery and commissioning as well as a multi-year AOM 5000 service agreement designed to ensure optimized performance throughout the project’s lifetime. The delivery of turbines will begin in the second quarter of 2021 with commissioning scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2021. The project and customer are undisclosed.

Innogy SE has selected 14 MW wind turbines for its 1.4 GW offshore wind farm Sofia, located 195 kilometers from the UK coast at Dogger Bank in the shallow central North Sea area. A corresponding preferred supplier deal with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has been signed. SIMEC Atlantis Energy has announce that the Prefecture de la Manche has approved the transfer of the lease to develop a 12MW tidal power project in Raz Blanchard from ENGIE to Normandie Hydroliennes. DEME Offshore has installed the first turbine at the Belgian North Sea offshore wind farm SeaMade. SeaMade is Belgium’s biggest offshore wind farm, with a capacity of 487 MW. Offshore construction of the SeaMade wind farm began in September 2019, with the latest foundation installed in January 2020 and the subsea cables connected in the meantime. RJ McLeod will lead the construction of the country’s newest onshore wind farm following the award of a multi-million-pound contract by Vattenfall. At South Kyle wind farm in East Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway, RJ McLeod will supply roads and access routes, electrical infrastructure, turbine foundations, and other facilities.
