Edda Wind has signed long term charter agreements for two of the four offshore wind vessels ordered from Spanish yards with MHI Vestas and Ocean Breeze Energy, respectively. Edda Wind, the offshore wind segment of the Østensjø Group has signed a construction contract at Astilleros Gondan for two CSOVs, and a construction contract at Astilleros Balenciaga for two SOVs. Both yards are situated in northern Spain. The vessels will be equipped with technology that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 30 percent. Wärtsilä will supply Canada-based Alectra Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of Alectra Utilities, with an energy storage system of 2 MW/5,4 MWh. Bombora conducted a metocean survey off the northern coastline of Lanzarote’s Spanish Canary Island, making a significant step in the renewable energy aspirations of the island and the development of a 3.0MW wave park project. Two new studies have been released by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) analyzing different renewable energy technologies and the economic impact of wind projects. “Offshore Renewable Energy Technologies in the Gulf of Mexico” assessed multiple offshore renewable energy technologies to determine which are best suited for development in the Gulf of Mexico.
