Vestas has received an order for 33 V117-4.2MW typhoon variant turbines from MHI Vestas for the Akita Noshiro offshore wind farm. The project is located in the northern Akita prefecture, and it will be Japan’s first utility-scale offshore project. Turbine delivery is scheduled in the second half of 2021 and installation is expected to start in 2022. SunLogix has acquired 500.000 square feet of warehousing space in Danville, VA. The warehouse will provide additional space on the East Coast for long-term storage and short term space for solar power equipment. Director of business development at SunLogix, David DesVerney said: “This warehouse will provide the solar energy industry with important access to long-term and short-term storage space.” The warehouse will provide valuable storage space for renewable energy providers and contractors. The warehouse is located in southern Virginia and offers eight dock doors. It is capable of accommodating 20 truckloads per day.

JDR has completed the delivery of subsea power cables and accessories to Jan De Nul for the Taiwan Power Company offshorewind farm phase one, the Changhua project. JDR designed and manufactured 65 kilometers of array and export cable to transmit power from the wind turbines to the shore. The 33kV cables were manufactured in JDR’s facility in Hartlepool, UK, with the support of its group facility in Bydgoszcz, Poland, before being loaded onto the cable laying vessel Isaac Newton for transport and installation in Taiwan by Jan De Nul. Nordex, the German turbine manufacturer, has closed the first quarter of 2020 with an order intake of 1.644 GW, representing an increase of firm orders by almost 59 percent. Europe accounted for 1.292MW, which represents almost 79 percent of the total order volume. Norway, Great Britain, Turkey and Finland have been highlighted as the strongest markets. Fugro’s Houston laboratory has doubled its advanced soil testing capacity for three-way bender element triaxial and cyclic simple shear testing to meet the demand from offshore wind projects in the US. Three-way bender element testing is performed on triaxial tests and uses piezoelectric transducers to determine shear wave velocity in different directions, which is incorporated into the design of the offshore wind turbine foundations. Cyclic simple shear tests determine the dynamic soil properties used to analyse offshore wind turbines under wave and seismic loading conditions. Iberdrola’s chairman, Ignacio Galán, has addressed more than 600.000 shareholders of the company in the first ever 100 percent remote annual general meeting in its history. Canadian Solar has closed $30 million in funding from the China-Portuguese Speaking Countries Cooperation and Development Fund (CPDFund). The funds will be used for development and construction of solar projects in Brazil. The company has 1.7 GWp of solar PV projects developed and awarded with PPAs in the federal and regional energy auctions, of which 480 MWp are under operation. “We are pleased to collaborate with the CPDFund again to support the development and construction of more solar projects in Brazil.
