Axpo’s subsidiary for the Belgian market has recently signed an agreement to purchase power from a wind farm in Estinnes, in the Walloon region.
The 82 MW wind farm owned by CGN Europe Energy generates about 150 GWh of renewable power per year with its 11 turbines and is Belgium’s largest onshore wind farm.
In the light of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with CGN Europe Energy, Axpo Benelux will purchase the full capacity of Belgium’s largest onshore wind farm and will be responsible for the selling of power on the national electricity market. In addition, Axpo Benelux will provide the owners of the wind farm with market access and output prediction services.
“We are delighted to have concluded this transaction for this iconic wind farm. This power purchase agreement shows our long-term commitment in the Benelux market and serves as a signal that we are aiming for further growth. We look forward to working with CGN Europe Energy.”
Joanna Juszczak, head origination Belgium at Axpo Benelux.
With this deal, Axpo is further expanding its business in the area of long-term energy purchasing agreements for renewable energy. Axpo provides individual long-term deals to renewable energy suppliers at fixed purchase rates.
