BP and Iberdrola have selected Toledo-based Imefy to provide the main transformer for their expansive green hydrogen production facility in Spain.
This plant, set to be the largest renewable hydrogen project in the country at 25 megawatts, will be located at the BP refinery in Castellón. Imefy, situated in Los Yébenes in Toledo province, has been entrusted with manufacturing, delivering, overseeing the setup, and launching a three-phase power transformer with 37 megavolt-amperes of power and a transformation ratio of 66/30 kilovolts. This component is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2026.
With an investment exceeding €70 million, the facility is expected to begin operations in the latter half of 2026.
Beyond its initial phase, the green hydrogen produced at the Castellón plant has the potential to impact critical industries within the Valencian Community.
