A deal has been signed on April 26 with the goal to look into the possibility of establishing Canada’s “first” bright green hydrogen facility.
With a $1.2 billion investment, the facility could produce up to 1 million tonnes of hydrogen, which would be a significant step forward for Canada’s hydrogen economy.
Fort Nelson First Nation and Hydrogen Naturally are working on a project that will incorporate natural air carbon capture and storage to reduce the project’s overall carbon footprint. Harvest residuals and residual fibre that are not currently used for high-value solid wood products will be used to generate hydrogen here.
