Casa dos Ventos and Comerc Eficiência have signed a partnership agreement with the TransHydrogen Alliance (THA), whose goal is to build new supply chains for European countries’ energy transition.
The parties also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together to create a viable collaboration aimed at producing the first phase for export to Europe via the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands in 2026.
The agreement’s goal is to allow the export of green ammonia generated in Ceará’s Industrial and Port Complex of Pecém (CIPP). The facility will be erected on a 60-hectare site and will have an electrolysis capacity of up to 2.4 GW, producing 960 tons of hydrogen per day and, after all phases are completed, producing 2.2 million tons of ammonia per year.
Brazil is a major player in the green hydrogen and ammonia markets. It is one of the few countries in the world where the energy matrix features allow for the generation of competitive and large-scale renewable energy and its derivatives. According to surveys, the green hydrogen generation business in Brazil might be worth between $15 billion and $20 billion per year by 2040.
