The HYLA brand was used to carry out a strategic collaboration arrangement between Chart Industries and Nikola Corporation that included liquid hydrogen storage tanks, transport trailers, and the creation of innovative transportable and modular hydrogen refueling stations for rapid deployment.
Further cooperation on the development of hydrogen technologies for infrastructure and truck on-board fuel systems is covered under this agreement.
In order to meet its needs for deploying the Nikola Tre hydrogen electric vehicles to support important customers and advance the movement to decarbonize the transportation sector, Nikola recently signed purchase orders with Chart for numerous liquid hydrogen storage tanks, mobile and modular refueling stations, and liquid hydrogen transport trailers. This partnership expands on a development agreement that Chart and Nikola previously signed to collaborate on the creation of original solutions for the market for hydrogen electric vehicles.
Under this partnership, Chart is supplying first-of-kind fully integrated mobile and modular hydrogen fuelling stations for heavy-duty vehicles giving a swiftly deployable fueling solution with minimal capital requirements. This portable gasoline station lowers the entry barrier and is the perfect answer for smaller fleets or other urgent and temporary fueling need. Also, the station’s operational expenses are reduced by the dense liquid hydrogen storage and effective liquid high pressure dispense pump.
In addition, this purchase includes Chart’s liquid hydrogen transport trailers’ most recent design, which builds on the company’s more than 57 years of hydrogen trailer expertise. This brand-new trailer is a lightweight alternative made for use with hydrogen-powered electric vehicles.
