In an effort to boost Denmark’s capabilities in the hydrogen sector, the Danish Ministry of Energy has issued a tender titled “Laboratory, Optical, and Precision Equipment (excluding glasses) – 2024-0701722: An Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES).”

This tender was published on August 20, 2024, with a submission deadline set for September 20, 2024. The equipment is crucial for enhancing research and quality assurance in the hydrogen industry.

The main objective of this tender is to procure an Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer (ICP-OES), a vital instrument used for chemical analysis in both industrial and research settings. The ICP-OES will significantly enhance Denmark’s analytical capabilities regarding the purity and composition of hydrogen, which is a critical factor for its application in fuel cells and other hydrogen-based technologies.

Prospective suppliers are expected to provide a comprehensive proposal detailing their capability to deliver the ICP-OES, along with technical specifications that meet the stringent requirements laid out by the Ministry. These requirements include high accuracy and precision in detecting trace elements and impurities within hydrogen samples. In simpler terms, the equipment must be capable of identifying even the smallest contaminants to ensure the hydrogen produced meets industry standards.

The significance of this tender lies in its potential impact on the hydrogen sector. By acquiring state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, Denmark aims to position itself as a leader in hydrogen technology, ensuring the country’s research facilities can conduct advanced quality control and innovative research. This, in turn, supports the broader goal of accelerating the transition to a sustainable and clean energy system.

Technical requirements for the ICP-OES include a wide dynamic range, sensitivity to detect elements at very low concentrations, and robust software for data analysis. These specifications ensure that the equipment is versatile and reliable, capable of handling various types of hydrogen samples and providing accurate data for researchers and industry professionals.

Interested suppliers should visit the official EU tender publication platform for detailed information and submission guidelines. The deadline for submissions is September 20, 2024, giving companies ample time to prepare their bids and contribute to a pivotal advancement in Denmark’s hydrogen capabilities.
