SNC-Lavalin, a global provider of integrated professional services and project management, has signed a strategic partnership with the Electric Aviation Group of the United Kingdom (EAG).

As EAG pursues its plans for H2ERA, a zero-emission regional aircraft powered by hybrid hydrogen-electric technology, the cooperation with Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, will speed the development of innovative, sustainable aviation technologies.

As EAG develops its own hybrid electric and hydrogen technology, the alliance gives it fast access to SNC-significant Lavalin’s aerospace expertise and resources. It plans to debut the H2ERA aircraft in 2030, making it the world’s first genuine zero-emission 90-seater regional aircraft.

“With rising worldwide demand for air travel, developing clean aircraft technology is vital to reducing global carbon emissions,” said Ian L. Edwards, President and CEO of SNC-Lavalin. “Our aerospace expertise are contributing decades of knowledge to this developing sector to help pioneer the technology that will bring commercial-scale, zero-emission aircraft to market.”

Electric Aviation Group’s Founder and CEO, Kamran Iqbal, said: “EAG aspires to be the global leader in creating revolutionary sustainable transportation technologies, with a particular emphasis on hydrogen-powered aviation. Collaboration with ‘best in class’ industry and academic partners to co-develop crucial building blocks to accomplish our ambitions is critical to achieving this. Our collaboration with Atkins has garnered a significant amount of funding, allowing us to continue developing our cutting-edge technology and create the world’s first truly zero-emission 90-seater hydrogen hybrid electric regional aircraft.”

SNC-Lavalin President Philip Hoare commented, “This intriguing alliance will combine our aerospace skills with EAG’s cutting-edge technology.” “The creation of a zero-emission, large regional-scale aircraft is a critical milestone on the path to sustainable aviation, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Electric Aviation Group as they market their revolutionary solutions,” says the company.

From expert business consulting services through safety assessments and specification, integration, and certification, Atkins’ Aerospace team will offer EAG with multi-layered strategic business and technical assistance as it commercializes its unique patented technology. The partnership builds on the SNC-Lavalin Group’s decades of significant aviation projects, which include major aircraft design and certification, global airport infrastructure design, and the development of sustainable aviation projects such as electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL), as well as its growing presence in the global ecosystem of new aerospace ventures and start-ups.
