Everfuel’s HySynergy Boosts Green Hydrogen Production

Everfuel’s HySynergy project, supported by a 33.1 million euro loan from the Danish government, has successfully unveiled Europe’s largest electrolyser in Fredericia, Denmark.

With a capacity of 20 MW, this milestone achievement signifies a significant step forward in the production of green hydrogen. The project’s ambitious goal is to reach a production capacity of 1 GW by the end of the decade.

The 20 MW plant was commissioned in December 2022 and is currently undergoing finalization of mechanical and electrical aspects. Everfuel experts are working diligently to complete the facility by the end of the second quarter. The company anticipates obtaining necessary approvals from public authorities and third parties to bring their green hydrogen to the market, aiming for this milestone to be accomplished in the second half of 2023.

Jacob Krogsgaard, the founder and CEO of Everfuel, expressed gratitude to the project team and partners for their dedicated efforts in delivering commercial green hydrogen within the designated timeline despite challenges in the supply chain market. Once fully operational, this electrolyser, the largest in Europe, and Denmark’s first large-scale Power-to-X plant, will play a vital role in decarbonizing industrial processes, including those at the adjacent Crossbridge Refinery.

In addition to the HySynergy project, Everfuel has further solidified its presence in the European market through a joint venture with Hy24, the manager of the world’s largest hydrogen infrastructure fund. The aim of this collaboration is to co-invest 200 million euros in electrolysis capacity in the Nordic region, thereby expanding their green hydrogen footprint.
