Gyeonggi Province will support research and development of small and medium-sized companies in the field of hydrogen energy, including fuel cells, production, storage, transportation and utilization.
The province announced on the 18th that it will recruit small and medium-sized hydrogen-related companies in the province by the 31st of next month to participate in the “2022 Gyeonggi Province Next Generation Hydrogen Energy Technology Development Support Project.
“The province plans to select a total of three internal and external tasks and support up to 400 million won for two years per task. The project was designed to improve the technological innovation capabilities of hydrogen energy-related companies in the province and promote commercialization as part of the government’s roadmap to revitalize the hydrogen economy and create a hydrogen ecosystem in Gyeonggi Province.
“Starting this year, the province has eased entry barriers by significantly lowering the corporate burden ratio from 50% to 20% of the total project cost. After the application deadline on the 31st of next month, the province plans to form a selection evaluation committee composed of experts in each field to select the final task.
“As a result of analyzing the relative competitiveness of Korea’s hydrogen industry, various support policies that can preemptively secure innovative technologies are important as companies in the province show clear growth,” said Um Jin-seop, director of the provincial environment bureau. “We will actively support small and medium-sized hydrogen companies to grow into the next-generation global hydrogen companies.”
