A group of students from Eco-Runner Team Delft in the Netherlands is working on developing the world’s most efficient hydrogen car, with the goal of driving at least 2056 kilometres on less than one kilogram of hydrogen. The team of engineers has been building more efficient hydrogen cars every year, but this latest prototype must be sturdier to cover the long distance, comparable to a ride from the north of the Netherlands to southern Spain.
Plug Power, a leading provider of hydrogen engines and fueling solutions, has announced the launch of its new high-power stationary hydrogen-powered fuel cell system for commercial electric vehicles (EV) fleets. The company claims that the system combines its 18,000-gallon (81,829 litres) liquid hydrogen tank with its megawatt-scale PEM fuel cell solution, providing over 60MWh of instantaneous energy to charge more than 600 EVs.
Physicists at the University of Illinois at Urbana, led by Yubo Yang, have discovered a new structure of hydrogen that has not been observed before.
Dariusz Pachniewski is a recognized authority in hydrogen technologies and has been working in the energy sector for over 30 years. He has been involved in various projects related to the development of hydrogen technology in Poland, including the first project that closed the hydrogen value chain by connecting two electrolyzers to a biomass unit and two mobile hydrogen dispensing stations.
Wales & West Utilities has embarked on a feasibility study exploring a new technique to produce low-carbon hydrogen from wastewater with funding from Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund.
The consortium De Nederlandse Hydrostof Delta has presented a plan to increase Dutch autonomy in the field of hydrogen.
The new patent proposes a simple and safe structure for the transport and storage of hydrogen and its mixtures, especially from renewable energy sources, which can be used by various producers, end users/consumers.
A French start-up company Gen-Hy has created novel, high-performance PGM-free (platinum group metal-free) catalysts free of any rare earth metals using catalytic deposition methods on its Gen-AEM membranes for use in alkaline electrolysers.
Wind power will soon become a more reliable source of electricity thanks to new technologies. Several parties are now working on the synthesis and storage of hydrogen using wind energy so that extra energy can be used when the wind is not blowing.
