Hyundai Motor Corporation announced a technological evaluation with Advent Technologies, a pioneer in fuel cell and hydrogen technology that is driven by innovation.
After the successful evaluation of Advent’s patented Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) technology to meet Hyundai’s high-temperature fuel cell requirements, the two businesses have signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA).
The signing ceremony took place in Charlestown, Massachusetts, at Advent’s corporate headquarters. Hyundai and Advent will collaborate to develop the HMC-Advent Ion Pair MEA further, identify commercial requirements for MEA supply, and assess Advent’s advanced fuel cell technology for Hyundai’s heavy-duty and/or stationary application.
The parties will also present cutting-edge cooling techniques for stacks of mobility High-Temperature Proton Exchange Membrane (HT-PEM) fuel cells. Hyundai and Advent will collaborate closely as they assess these stack cooling technologies to guarantee top performance under various operating circumstances.
By significantly enhancing longevity and increasing power density compared to conventional HT-PEM MEAs, the synergy created by fusing the two firms’ cutting-edge technologies in this JDA is anticipated to transform the global MEA market.
