As part of the Brazilian aircraft manufacturer’s Energia sustainability effort, Embraer showcased new concepts for hybrid electric and hydrogen aircraft.
The Energia family of aircraft has undergone many design revisions, according to the manufacturer, over a year after Embraer disclosed a thorough analysis of four new aircraft ideas.
For instance, Embraer is now investigating 19 and 30-seater variants of the Energia Hybrid, the E19-HE and E30-HE, which will feature rear-mounted engines and parallel hybrid-electric propulsion expected to cut up to 90% emissions when using Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Embraer previously revealed plans for a nine-seater Energia Hybrid aircraft in 2021. (SAF).
The airplane might be released as early as 2030, according to the company.
Embraer also unveiled an improved version of the E19-H2FC Energia H2 Fuel Cell airplane. Although a 19-seater version of the aircraft was initially shown in 2021, the manufacturer is also thinking about a 30-seater version that will use hydrogen-electric propulsion. Only in 2035 will the E30-H2FC’s technology be ready, according to Embraer.
