Osaka Gas, through its subsidiary Osaka Gas UK (OGUK), has entered into a transformative partnership with Tree Energy Solutions (TES), a European heavyweight in large-scale green hydrogen and e-methane production.

This landmark collaboration aims to reshape the energy landscape and redefine the role of e-methane as a key player in achieving a sustainable, carbon-neutral society.

At the heart of this initiative lies a shared vision – to promote and harness the potential of e-methane as a powerful gaseous energy carrier capable of ushering in an era of carbon neutrality. Osaka Gas and TES are not merely collaborators; they are advocates, seeking to rally governments worldwide to recognize the value and advantages of e-methane on a global scale. Their mission is clear: to work hand-in-hand with governments to establish international standards and systems that will support the widespread commercialization of e-methane.

Comprehensive Studies on E-Methane

This groundbreaking collaboration extends beyond advocacy. It encompasses comprehensive studies covering the entire e-methane supply chain, from production and transportation to usage and offtake. Together, Osaka Gas and TES are set to explore innovative methods and technologies to enhance e-methane’s viability as a clean energy source. This includes addressing challenges related to e-methane production, efficient transportation, seamless utilization, and ensuring reliable offtake.

E-methane, also known as electro-methane, is a promising solution in the pursuit of carbon neutrality. It is produced through a process that combines renewable electricity with carbon dioxide (CO2) or carbon capture and utilization (CCU) technology. This not only reduces greenhouse gas emissions but also provides a versatile energy carrier that can be used across various sectors, including transportation and industry.

The impact of this collaboration extends far beyond Europe. It has the potential to reshape energy supply chains on a global scale. By driving the commercialization of e-methane and establishing international standards, Osaka Gas and TES are setting the stage for a new era of clean energy. Their collective efforts could significantly reduce carbon emissions, drive economic growth, and redefine the energy landscape.
