Plug Power has entered a landmark agreement with Allied Green Ammonia (AGA) to supply 3 gigawatts (GW) of electrolyzer capacity for AGA’s green hydrogen-to-ammonia plant in Australia.
AGA plans to install a 4.5 GW solar plant to power Plug’s electrolyzers, ensuring zero-emission electricity for green hydrogen production. The hydrogen will be converted into green ammonia, which is critical for applications in agriculture, energy storage, and transport sectors.
Under the agreement, Plug Power will develop a Basic Engineering and Design Package (BEDP) to provide technical details and specifications essential for attracting investors and securing project financing. Manufacturing and delivery of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyzers are slated to begin in Q1 2027, following a positive Final Investment Decision (FID) anticipated by Q2 2025.
AGA’s facility is set to become one of the world’s largest green ammonia production plants, with a projected output of 2,700 metric tons per day (TPD). The ammonia will primarily serve markets in Asia and Europe, where demand for sustainable energy solutions continues to grow.
